FCC: No AI-Generated Robocalls!
Leave it up to the worst actors to spur regulators to do what they do best. On Thursday, February 8 the FCC ruled to criminalize using AI-generated voices in robocalls. “No matter what celebrity or politician you favor, or what your relationship is with your kin when they call for help, it is possible we could all be a target of these faked calls,” FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said in a statement to NBC prior to the ruling. While the ongoing tightening of regulations will potentially limit industry outreach methods, it also serves as another indicator of the ongoing shift towards quality over quantity.
